Minecraft PS4 Fails Certification as August Creeps to a Close

It’s looking unlikely Minecraft will meet its August release date on PS4 after it failed Sony’s certification tests. From sweden with love So it’s back to the fixing board of 4J Studios, and the team will need to submit the game for certification before it is released.

4J has been hard at work fixing bugs and fixing issues throughout the month. This isn’t just for the PS4 version as well as for the Xbox One and Vita releases. We have reached out to the studio to confirm the delay and to determine if it would affect the PS4 version only or the other platforms. All three ports are currently due for release this month.

Sony discovered some issues in #MinecraftPS4’s final test. We are currently working on fixing them, however we need to go through the whole process over again.

– 4J Studios (@4JStudios), August 20, 2014. When they hit, the Xbox One or PS4 versions of Mojang’s popular game will be available at $20 on digital storefronts. Xbox 360 and PS3 owners will be able upgrade to Xbox One or PS4 for $5. This offer will be valid at least one year following the release date. The new consoles will provide larger worlds and more draw distance than previous console releases.

The Vita version is cross-buy with PS3. This means that users who purchased Minecraft on consoles will get the handheld port for free, and new buyers can play the game on Vita and PS3. Like the other ports, the price for grinding your pickaxe on Vita is $20.
